3D Life has participated to a closed forum for Additive Manufacturing(AM) this week in Amsterdam organized by Amistat Group. Our Head of Strategy and Business Development Mr. Gregory Krinos has presented our views how the Future of Healthcare will be shaped with the evolution of AM as a stand-alone technology and together combined with other technologies like Bioprinting and AR/VR.
During the presentation, Gregory has presented the situation of 3D Printing in healthcare today with main use of the technology for medical devices mainly driven by Orthopedics and Craniomaxillofacial sector, the evolution and great fund raising related to Artificial Intelligence(AI) and the benefit AR/VR could bring to training and patient cases simulation of Healthcare Professionals. In addition, despite of the evolution of Bioprinting research efforts we are still far away from commercial products or even the clear prediction when we could have the first commercial bioprinted medical devices.
Furthermore, Gregory has analyzed the changes these technologies will bring to the medtech market and ecosystem with all medtech giants like Medtronic, Stryker, JNJ etc. already placing their bets and with many IT giants (Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Intel)keeping a close eye and ready to leave the wait and see mode and penetrate aggressively in Healthcare especially after the evolution of AI.
What is clear is that these technologies will continue to evolve either as stand- alone or in combination, leading to:
´ Evolution of Preventive medicine
´ Patient specific medical device Implants with lower cost and same even better value
´ Patient Specific customized Drugs
´ Better information and better decisions
´ Reduction of complication rates
´ Reduction of hospital stays and faster connection of patients to specialists
´ Physicians training and education excellence
And resulting to Healthcare providers cost savings and Patient optimal therapies that serve the scope of VALUE BASED HEALTHCARE and will shape a different Healthcare Ecosystem with all Medtech and IT giants stepping in.
